Objective
The student
• understands the fundamentals of cellular biology and the principal cellular biology events
• understands cellular structure and operation, organelles, intercellular communication and protein synthesis
• is able to explain the cell cycle, cell division and various cell junctions
• is able to describe how a normal cell develops into a cancer cell
• understands the overall operation of human genetics and the methods of genetic cloning.

• Protein synthesis and protein transportation
• Cell cycle, cell division and cell signalling
• Structure and functioning of nucleic acids
• Operation and regulation of genes
• Division of gametes

• PCR, restriction enzyme and gel electrophoresis
