Objective
On completion of the course, the student will be able to gather information for the design of a simple building. The student will be able to design a simple building and to produce related drawings and simple specifications. The student will be familiar with architectural design, building materials, structures and building costs.
Content
Basics of architectural design.
Use of building information sources and information gathering.
Making the main drawings and working drawings for a simple building.
Making the specifications for a simple building.
Building materials and structures.
Calculation of the costs of a simple building.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student is familiar with the course subjects on a satisfactory level.
The student has often been absent from the teaching sessions. The student has problems in acting as a group member. The student's activity during the teaching sessions and rehearsals has been unsatisfactory.
The capacity to formulate relevant problems associated with the work is limited and the student has problems to apply theoretical studies to practical work. The reasoning in the rehearsal tasks is weak and the student has many gaps in his/her knowledge.
The student does not work independently and needs a lot of further guidance from the teacher. The student has not given a enough attention to the subject, and he/she does not have a clear overall understanding of the subject. The student is not able to work as an investigative learner.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student is familiar with the course subjects on a good level.
The student has taken part in all teaching sessions and projects and his/her activity on the course has been good. The student acts flexibly as a group member.
The studies have proceeded consistently. The student is able to understand the basic topics of the course and is able to apply the theoretical studies to practical work. The reasoning of the rehearsal tasks is valid and the student understands the causes and effects of one's choices in the tasks.
The student works independently but there is still some need for further guidance from the teacher. The student has given enough attention for the subject and has an overall understanding of the subject.
The student works to some extent as an investigative learner.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student masters the course subjects excellently.
The student has achieved the course objectives fully. The student has taken actively and constructively part in the teaching and the project. The student’s actions enhance the group activities.
The student masters the topics of the course and its prerequisites, and is able to apply theoretical studies to practical work. The reasoning in the rehearsal tasks is professional and the student can validate the causes and effects of his/her choices.
The student works independently. The student masters the overall subject in both theory and practice. The student works independently as an investigative learner.

The student is familiar with the course subjects on a satisfactory level.

The course is implemented as project based learning. The idea is to learn by doing the practical work. The student has the role of an investigative learner.
Participation in class lessons and returning the assignments on schedule are part of the grounds of the evaluation.

Objective
Opintojakson suoritettuaan opiskelija osaa hankkia tietoa yksinkertaisen rakennuksen suunnittelun pohjaksi.
Opiskelija pystyy suunnittelemaan yksinkertaisen rakennuksen ja tuottamaan siihen liittyvät piirustukset ja rakennustapaselitykset.
Opiskelija tutustuu arkkitehtisuunnitteluun, rakennusmateriaaleihin, rakenteisiin ja rakentamisen kustannuksiin.

Arkkitehtisuunnittelun perusteita
Rakentamisen tietolähteiden käyttö ja tiedon hankinta.
Yksinkertaisen rakennuksen pää- ja työpiirustusten teko.
Yksinkertaisen työselityksen laatiminen.
Rakennusmateriaaleihin ja rakenteisiin tutustuminen.
Yksinkertaisen rakennuksen kustannusten laskeminen.

Student workload
Suorituksen saaminen edellyttää 80% osallistumista lähiopetukseen ja ohjaukseen, yms.
Opiskelijan työkuorma 27 h / op, joka sisältää lähiopetuksen ja opiskelijan itsenäisen työskentelyn.
Rakennusarkkitehtuuri opintojen laajuus ja harjoitustöiden työmäärä on mitoitettu kokopäivätoimisen opiskelun mukaan.
Suorituksen saaminen edellyttää, että kaikki kurssitehtävät on tehty hyväksyttävästi.
Jos kurssissa on alkutentti, se pitää läpäistä ennen kurssiin aloittamista.

Opiskelijalla on paljon poissaoloja. Ryhmätyöskentelyssä on vaikeuksia. Aktiivisuus luennoilla ja projektissa on heikkoa.
Opiskelija ei täysin pysty hahmottamaan aiheen perusideoita eikä sen vuoksi pysty täysin soveltamaan oppimaansa käytännön työhön. Harjoitustehtävissä perustelut ovat haparoivia.
Harjoitustöissä työskentely ei ole ollut itsenäistä ja on ollut hyvin paljon tarvetta lisäohjaukselle. Kokonaisuudesta näkyy, että siihen ei ole lainkaan paneuduttu eikä kokonaisuus ole tasapainoinen.
Opiskelija ei pysty toimimaan tutkivana oppijana.

Opiskelijalla ei juuri ole poissaoloja. Ryhmätyöskentely on toimivaa. Aktiivisuus luennoilla ja projektissa on hyvä.
Työskentely etenee opintojaksolla johdonmukaisesti. Opiskelija hahmottaa opintojakson aiheen perusideat ja osaa soveltaa oppimaansa käytännön työhön sekä osaa selittää asiantuntevasti harjoitustöissä tehtyjen valintojen syyt ja seuraukset.
Harjoitustöissä työskentely on ollut riittävän itsenäistä mutta myös ohjaukselle on ollut tarvetta. Opiskelija hallitsee tehtävän kokonaisuuden.
Opiskelija toimii tyydyttävästi tutkivana oppijana.

Opintojaksolle asetetut tavoitteet on saavutettu kiitettävällä tavalla. Opiskelija on osallistunut opetukseen aktiivisesti ja rakentavasti sekä toiminut erittäin hyvin ryhmän osana.
Opiskelija hahmottaa opintojaksolla opetetut asiat ja osaa soveltaa oppimaansa käytännön työhön. Opiskelija osaa selittää ja perustella asiantuntevasti harjoitustöissä tehtyjen valintojen syyt ja seuraukset. Työskentely on ollut riittävän itsenäistä. Opiskelija hallitsee kokonaisuuden sekä teoreettisesti että käytännössä.

Kurssi toteutetaan projektimuotoisena oppimisena. Lähtökohtana on työn tekeminen ja sitä kautta oppiminen. Opiskelijalla on itsellään rooli tutkivana oppijana.
Osallistuminen lähiopetukseen ja harjoitustöiden aikataulun mukainen palautus on arviointiperuste.
