Objective

The student can make an environmental management system for a company. The student knows how to maintain an environmental management system. The student identifies how and in what way different substances harmful to the environment are spread and affect the environment. The student knows the basics of environmental protection.

- Environmental cycling and pressures on soil and water bodies
- Sustainable use of natural resources and its contribution to biodiversity
- Non-renewable and renewable resources
- Nutrient-rich biomasses and side streams from municipalities
- Dispersion and transformation of emissions and chemicals
- Mechanisms of environmental impact and climate change
- Hazardous and radioactive waste
- Authorities and regulation

Prerequisites

The student knows the basics of environmental management. The student knows the basics of chemistry.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student understands the basics of environmental protection. The student knows the environmental management systems of companies. The student understands the patterns of dispersion of various emissions and chemicals in the environment. The student understands the causes of climate change.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student understands the impact of emissions and chemicals on the environment and climate. The student is able to maintain an environmental management system. The student understands the impact of emissions on climate change. The student recognises what is meant by sustainable use of natural resources. The student knows what is hazardous and radioactive waste. The student identifies nutrient side streams.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands and can quantify the impact of emissions and chemicals on the environment and climate. The student knows the mechanisms to combat climate change. The student understands the impact of authorities on environmental protection.
