Objective

The student knows the different types of power plants and how they work. The student understands the basics of power plant design and how to choose process values. The student will know the basic solutions for centralised and distributed power generation. The student will be able to analyse the profitability of an energy project and know the importance of energy production management.

Prerequisites

The student is familiar with energy production related equipment and machines. The student has a basic knowledge of steam turbines, electric generators, steam boilers and heat transfer. The student understands the basic solutions for distributed and centralised energy production. The student masters the basics of mathematics, physics and chemistry.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the impact of energy production process values on different production methods. The student understands the importance of energy projects.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the impact of energy production process parameters on different production methods and can quantitatively assess the impact of the parameters. The student is able to model the operation of simple energy systems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student masters the influence of energy production process parameters on different production methods and can quantitatively evaluate the influence of parameters. The student will be familiar with different methods of delivery and design of energy projects. The student will know the basic principles of production control.
