Objective

The student can draw the refrigerant cycle of a heat pump on a log p,h diagram and determine the coefficient of performance (COP) from the diagram. The student can explain the operating principles of different types of heat pumps. The student is familiar with the most common refrigerants used in heat pumps and their usage limitations. The student can design a conventional heat pump system, including an energy well field. The student can perform measurements on a heat pump and compile a report based on the results.

Content

Theoretical and functional basis of heat pumps. Legislation. Heat sources. Heat pump types. Heat pumps for small houses. Real estate heat pumps. Design and selection of heat pump with sizing and selection program. Design of the heat pump plant and dimensioning of the main components. Design of a heat well. Energy well field design and simulation (EED).
