Objective
The student
• understands the strategic role of sourcing in an organisation and effects of the operating environment
• understands the role of supplier relationship management and performance management
• is able to select and analyse appropriate sourcing strategies for different sourcing categories
• is able to develop communication and negotiation skills
• is able to identify the special characteristics of services sourcing
• acknowledges the basic principles of public procurement
• is able to analyse sourcing’s impact on sustainability of a product/service and plan sustainable sourcing initiatives
• understands sustainability as a strategic approach in sourcing
• knows how companies can use quantitative research to develop their sourcing operations
• is able able to design and implement surveys, analyse raw data and assess the reliability and validity of research
• can use SPSS and Excel to interpret results and present them in an illustrative form
• develops an understanding how data analytics is used to solve business problems and to support decision making in sourcing.
