Objective

After completing the course, the student
• evaluates assortment planning from the perspectives of different stakeholders
• describes the basics of building a commercially and economically viable assortment and product portfolio
• explains the importance of delivery times in assortment planning
• explains the impact of assortment planning on sustainability.

• Assortment plans from the perspectives of different stakeholders in the value chain
• Formation of an assortment at product, product group, and collection levels
• Various factors influencing assortment planning
• Connection between consumer behaviour, branding, marketing planning, and assortment planning

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students recognise the basic principles of assortment planning from the perspectives of different stakeholders. They can name the key components of building a commercially and economically viable assortment and product portfolio. They can list the importance of delivery times in assortment planning. Students recognise the basic issues of sustainability in assortment planning. Applications are superficial and contain errors or deficiencies.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students can explain the basic principles of assortment planning from the perspectives of different stakeholders. They can describe how a commercially and economically viable assortment and product portfolio are practically built. They understand the importance of delivery times and can justify their impact on assortment planning. Students can evaluate sustainability issues in assortment planning, justifying their observations. Performances are consistent and mostly correct.

Students can critically evaluate and analyse the principles and impacts of assortment planning from the perspectives of different stakeholders. They can present justified solutions for building a commercially and economically viable assortment and product portfolio. They understand the importance of delivery times and can integrate this into the overall assortment planning. Students can examine sustainability comprehensively and suggest development measures from the perspective of assortment planning. Works are well-justified and demonstrate independent thinking.
