Objective

The student
• deepens their skills in interpreting different rhythm music genres and improvisation and the practical application of theoretical knowledge using different working methods to develop their own expression
• masters the playing/singing technique, rhythmic treatment, phrasing and purity of tune required demonstrating good aesthetic and artistic vision
• is able to understand the job description of a professional musician and has the reading and assimilation skills required for practical work
• is able to play solo and accompaniment roles and to play in various ensembles
• knows and is able to describe their own artistic strengths and skills
• is able to rehearse appropriately and to prepare new repertoire independently
• develops in their musical creativity and thinking and is able to express themselves musically in a personal way.

Goal-oriented study and practice of the instrument in accordance with the learning objectives.

Qualifications

Instrument Studies 4 or as agreed with the responsible teacher.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

In order to obtain a pass mark, the student
• is able to set personal objectives
• is able to work independently
• practises a stylistically diverse repertoire
• deepens their musical expression in line with their own objectives
• practises interpretation and improvisation typical of their instrument
• practises the instrumental and technical means of expression characteristic of their instrument
• has given public performances of artistic skills on their instrument
• can work as part of an ensemble and express their musical views in ensemble work
• is able to use expressive techniques which are characteristic of their instrument and typical of the repertoire chosen.
