Objective

The student
• is able to define the role of a music producer in various music productions and analyse the producer's tasks, responsibilities, and requirements
• can describe the technical and artistic characteristics of music productions from different eras and styles
• can interpret the historical development of music technology and production and relate it to contemporary working methods
• can independently execute a simple music production and justify their aesthetic views and choices
• is able to receive and provide constructive feedback and reflect on their own skills and development
• works in a goal-oriented manner according to given assignments and schedules.

Content

• Lectures and seminar work
• Individual and small group exercises
• Historical development, content, and working methods of music production
• Roles, work and career opportunities of the producer
• Production exercises and presenting one's own productions

Qualifications

Degree according to the extended syllabus level of basic education in music in Finland or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student
• is able to define the role of a music producer in various music productions and analyse the producer's tasks, responsibilities, and requirements
• is able to describe the technical and artistic characteristics of music productions from different eras and styles
• can interpret the historical development of music technology and production and relate it to contemporary working methods
• is able to execute a simple music production independently and argue for their own productions
• can give and receive constructive feedback and reflect on their own skills and development
• works according to given assignments and schedules.
