Objective

The student
• understands the importance of different working methods during the mixing phase and can apply them to their own work
• can create technically balanced stereo and multichannel mixes for various music styles and purposes and work efficiently in a digital audio workstation environment
• is able to use signal processors in mixing and editing at an advanced level
• understands the significance of control room acoustics and can work in various acoustic environments
• can give and receive constructive feedback and communicate effectively using terminology related to the mixing phase
• can specify the mastering process as part of the production of a recording
• works in a goal-oriented manner according to given assignments and schedules.

• Role of the mixing engineer in music production
• Mixing phase as part of the work of the producer, artist, and songwriter

The student

• can create technically balanced mixes for different music styles and purposes and work efficiently in a digital audio workstation environment
• knows how to use signal processors in mixing and editing
• understands the significance of control room acoustics and can work in various acoustic environments
• is able to prepare their own music production for the mixing phase
• can give and receive constructive feedback and use terminology related to the mixing phase
• can listen critically and analytically
• can define the role of the music producer in various music productions and analyse the tasks, responsibilities, and requirements related to the producer's role
• can analyse the technical and artistic characteristics of music productions from different eras and styles
• can interpret the historical development of music technology and production and relate it to contemporary practices
• can independently execute a simple music production and argue for their own work.
