Lied 3Laajuus (3 cr)

Objective

The student
- becomes acquainted with functioning as a musician in the context of Lied music, developing their skills as collaborative musicians and instrumentalists
- gains the ability to construct musical entities, in particular on the basis of musical notation
- can plan their practice, function as a musician and perform in a Lied ensemble
- develops their interaction skills and can reflect on their own and others' work.

Content

Students of classical singing and piano participate in the activities of the Lied Seminar, exploring the main literature of Lieder in different languages. Duos delve into the song texts in the original language and translations and prepare a musical performance.

Qualifications

Degree according to the extended syllabus level of basic education in music in Finland or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student
- is able to perform as a Lied chamber musician in the role of a singer or pianist
- can construct musical entities, plan their practice, function as a musician and perform in a Lied ensemble
- can interact effectively and reflect on their own and others' work.

Further information

Completing 3 credits requires participation in the Lied Seminar and performing the rehearsed pieces in concert.
