Objective

The student
• has a command of the entire process of music production and is capable of planning, executing, and documenting the production of a professional recording
• can analyse the different stages of making a recording and the specific characteristics of various projects
• is able to act as the artistic producer of a recording and execute it to a high technical standard
• can adapt their work to meet the client's needs
• can work in a goal-oriented manner according to given assignments and schedules.

• Project-based studio work and coaching meetings
• Lectures and guest lectures
• Artist development, the producer’s career development and operating in commercial environments

Qualifications

The student
• is able to define the role of a music producer in different music productions and analyse the producer's tasks, responsibilities, and requirements
• can describe the technical and artistic characteristics of music productions from different eras and styles
• can interpret the historical development of music technology and production and relate it to contemporary working methods
• is able to execute a simple music production independently and argue for their own productions
• can give and receive constructive feedback and reflect on their own skills and development
• is capable of recording, editing, and processing vocal sounds in a digital audio workstation
• can describe the physiological basics of singing
• can communicate constructively and positively with singers and musicians during recording sessions
• is able to direct, manage, and produce vocal recordings and handle signal processing in vocal production.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student
• has a command of the entirety of studio production and can plan, execute, and document the production of a professional recording
