Objective
The student
• masters the analysis and creative production of melody, harmony, rhythm, and form through writing, singing, and applicably with their instrument within their own musical genre
• can describe different musical styles both in writing and orally, communicate using general professional terminology, and utilise technology in their work while deepening their knowledge through relevant literature
• is capable of independent information gathering and creative work.
Content
Music theory
• Mastery of form and style
• Mastery of musical elements and their balance
• Advanced tonal (including post-tonal) harmonisation and reharmonisation
• Familiarisation with literature
• Preparation and presentation of a sample work
Ear training
• Melodies with advanced chromaticism
• Polyphony
• Chord progressions with seventh chords and extensions, including extensive chromaticism
• Scales
• Exercises in melody interpretation and improvisation
• Modulation to different keys
Qualifications
Completion of Music Theory and Ear Training 3 or equivalent knowledge and skills.
