Objective

The student learns new applications of music technology as well as other computer software and peripherals used in music study, practice and teaching. The student is able to outline different aspects of music technology. The student learns the fundamental skills of video production. Upon course completion, the student is able to use and maintain a computer and essential applications in their studies and profession. The student is able to explain the importance of following technological developments and applying new technologies to their own work, as well as in constantly updating their skills and modes of expression.

Content

Lectures and guest lectures. Basic video production excercises. Familiarization with new technology and its applications.

Prerequisites

The student understands the fundamentals of sound synthesis and is able to describe the functionality of synthesizers. The student is able to design and produce specific sounds and effects in a digital audio workstation environment. The student is able to describe the fundamentals of sampling, is able to use different samplers and is able to build their own sampling instruments. The student is able to use sound synthesis and sampling creatively in their own music. The student is able to use signal processors in mixing and editing.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student learns new applications of music technology as well as other computer software and peripherals used in music study, practice and teaching. The student is able to outline different aspects of music technology. The student learns the fundamental skills of video production. The student is able to use and maintain a computer and essential applications in their studies and profession.

The student is able to explain the importance of following technological developments and applying new technologies to their own work, as well as in constantly updating their skills and modes of expression. The student completes assignments according to schedule.
