Objective
The student can record, edit and process vocal tracks with a digital audio workstation. The student can describe the basics of the physiology of singing. The student can communicate constructively and positively with singers and instrumentalists in a recording situation. The student gains competences in directing, managing and producing vocal recording sessions and familiarity with signal processing in vocal track productions.
Content
Studio work, vocal recording sessions, giving and receiving peer feedback. Lectures and guest lectures. The producer’s role in the finalization of vocal tracks. Tuning of vocal tracks and other processing technology.
Qualifications
The student is able to plan and implement a recording session in a professional sound studio and is able to collaborate with musicians in a recording situation. The student is able to listen both critically and analytically. The student can define the role of the producer in different music productions. The student can outline the various tasks of a producer and the responsibilities and requirements that are associated with them. The student identifies the technical and artistic characteristics of music productions in different eras, understands the historical development of music technology and production, and is able to contextualize these in relation to modern practices. The student can implement a basic music production.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
- The student is able to follow agreed schedules and submit their assignments on time.
- The student can work as an active member of the group and give constructive feedback on the contributions of the other group members.
- The student presents and argues their own contribution to the group as agreed and is able to receive feedback and reflect on their own performance.
