Objective

The student
• understands the ethical principles of digital design and their significance in the design process
•.identifies and evaluates ethical challenges in the design of digital products and services, recognising the responsibilities of the designer
•.reflects on their own values as part of their role as digital designers and evaluates their decisions from ethical perspectives, such as sustainability and social responsibility
•.engages with current ethical discussions in the field and applies ethical perspectives in practical design work.

• Ethical challenges in digital design and responsible design practices
• Designer’s responsibilities
• Role of personal values and ethical views in design work
• Current ethical discussions in the field
• Ethical perspectives, e.g., sustainability and social responsibility

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
• participates in the course activities at a satisfactory level
• recognises some ethical challenges in digital design and understands the significance of ethical principles in the design process
• reflects on the role of their values in design work to a limited extent.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
• actively participates in course activities
• evaluates ethical challenges in digital design and apply ethical principles
• reflects on their own values as part of design work and incorporates them into decision-making, considering current ethical discussions in the field.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• demonstrates exceptional engagement in course activities
• has a deep understanding of ethical challenges and principles of responsibility in digital design, integrating them consistently into their work
• recognises and critically analyses the role of their values in decision-making and reflect on current ethical discussions from multiple perspectives.
