Objective
Students know the main developments in the history of the media that are relevant to their future profession. They understand the connections between the contemporary media environment and the history of the media. They are able to critically assess the current state of their industry and its future prospects in relation to history.
Content
Main developments in the history of the media that are relevant to their future profession (e.g., print media, film, radio, television, digital media, online media, theatre).
Aesthetic, technical, economic and social dimensions of the history of media and the connections between different media forms.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students have acceptable participation in class and complete the assignments to a satisfactory standard. They are familiar with some periods in the development of the media forms related to their professional field. They are able to recognize connections between historical and modern media forms from the point of view of their professional field.

Students actively participate in class and complete the assignments to a good standard. They are familiar with the key periods in the history of media forms related to their professional field, and are able to assess the relationship between historical and modern media forms. They recognize the impact of the historical development in their own professional field, and are able to assess its significance to their own professional activities.

They have a comprehensive understanding of the key periods in the history of media forms related to their professional field, and are able to assess the relationship between historical and modern media forms in a versatile way.
