Objective

The students know the ethical principles and regulations related to their profession and can apply them in practical situations. The students apply their storytelling skills in generating ideas and doing background research for a short fiction film. They can develop a screenplay for a short fiction film. They can analyze screenplays and recognize dramatic structures. They master the giving and receiving of constructive feedback. They are familiar with the fundamentals of directing and acting in fiction film. They can set goals for direction. They can break down the screenplay into a budget, production plan and shooting schedule. They can compose a storyboard and sound plan based on the screenplay and choose appropriate equipment. They are able to compose a pitch package and pitch their own visual presentation to the production team.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students have acceptable participation in class and complete the assignments to a satisfactory standard. They participate satisfactorily in the development of a short fiction screenplay, are able to analyze the screenplay on a basic level and recognize some dramatic structures. They can give and receive feedback on a satisfactory level. They are acquainted with the fundamentals of directing and acting in a fiction film. They can do a limited economic breakdown of a screenplay. They have a basic knowledge of how to make a storyboard and sound design plan for a short film. They are able to produce a satisfactory written presentation package of the film and pitch it to an audience.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students actively participate in class and complete the assignments to a good standard. They participate in the development of a short fiction screenplay, are able to well analyze the screenplay and recognize dramatic structures. They can give and receive feedback. They are familiar with the fundamentals of directing and acting in a fiction film. They can do a proficient economic breakdown of a screenplay. They know how to make a storyboard and sound design plan for a short film. They are able to produce a written presentation package of the film and pitch it to an audience.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students actively participate in class and complete the assignments to an excellent standard. They actively participate in the development of a short fiction screenplay, are able to well analyze the screenplay and recognize dramatic structures in a versatile way. They can give constructive feedback, and utilize the feedback they receive in their work. They are familiar with the fundamentals of directing and acting in a fiction film, and are able to set directing goals. They can do a proficient economic breakdown of a screenplay. They can independently produce a storyboard and a sound design plan for a short film. They are able to produce a written presentation package of the film and pitch their views of the production and the artistic aspects of the film to an audience.
