Objective

After completing the course, the student is capable of writing a thesis. The student is familiar with the thesis practices of the institution. Students know methods and principles of professional research. They are familiar with the scientific and ethical requirements of writing a thesis. They recognise development needs in their field, are able to define the research topic and select appropriate research methods. They can critically search for and evaluate information and use it purposefully. The student knows the principles of writing a factual and research text. They can argue, reflect and justify their own choices. The student will be able to communicate as an expert in different research and development tasks and environments.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student participates satisfactorily in class. The student, with assistance, is able to choose a thesis topic appropriate to their professional field. The student knows some research methods and, with assistance, can select a research method for a thesis. They know some structural and ethical principles of writing a thesis. The student is able to acquire information from professional sources and to utilise such information in their studies and work. The student is able to act appropriately in communication situations related to expert work and research and development work.

The student participates well in class. The student is able to select and define clearly the topic of a thesis according to the development needs of their professional field. They know key research methods and can choose the appropriate method for their thesis. They know structural and ethical principles of thesis writing and apply them in their thesis plan. The student is able to acquire information comprehensively from professional sources and to evaluate its reliability and usability in their studies and work. The student is able to act constructively in communication situations related to expert work, and research and development work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student's participation is very good. The student is able to choose a thesis topic that develops their professional field and to limit it precisely and appropriately. They have a broad knowledge of key research methods and are able to choose a method that is justified in terms of the objectives of their thesis. They master the structural and ethical principles of thesis writing and can apply them appropriately and comprehensively in their thesis design. The student is able to acquire information comprehensively from professional sources and to evaluate its reliability and usability in their studies and work in a critical way. The student is able to work in a variety of communication situations in expert work and research and development work. The student demonstrates a willingness to develop communication and interaction skills as an expert.
