Objective
Student
- know how to plan, implement and evaluate maternity care in accordance with national regulations, recommendations and evidence-based knowledge
- are able to work as experts of maternity care in the multi-actor collaboration of maternity care
- know how to apply their guidance and counselling competence to the health promotion of pregnant women and families with a newborn baby
- can implement breastfeeding guidance in accordance with the WHO Baby Friendly Initiative
Content
- regular health check-ups based on the national recommendations on maternity care
- the main laws and decrees on maternity care
- follow up and screening methods of maternity care
- promotion of health and wellbeing of the expecting mother and family
- identifying problems during pregnancy requiring supplementary follow up and multiprofessional cooperation
- irregular childbirth, alleviation of pain during childbirth and unplanned out-of-hospital childbirth
- postnatal examination of normal childbirth
- screenings of cervical and breast cancers
- Breastfeeding counselling training course based on the WHO Baby Friendly Initiative
- medical studies: obstetrics, gynaecology, prenatal diagnostic testing
Qualifications
The student may choose professional studies of public health nursing after successfully completing the theoretical requirements of professional nursing studies as well as all the clinical practices in medical and surgical operating environments, unless otherwise agreed in the student's PSP.
