Objective
Students are able to establish an anamnesis and document the information on the patient interview form. They know how to take patient’s blood pressure and conduct an examination on the neurovascular status. Students can examine respiration and the movement of the thorax. They are able to identify the most common areas of oedema.
Internal medicine: 1 cr
Students identify the symptoms of the main national diseases and can describe their causes, examination and care. They know how to interpret the most common laboratory results.
Symptoms and signs: 1 cr
Students are capable of combining the previously learned medical subjects into a holistic differential diagnosis serving clinical practice. They develop their competence in assessing patients’ general condition as part of their examinations and follow-up of treatment. Students are able to identify the risky ‘red flag’ symptoms and refer patients to further treatment.
Content
Establishing an anamnesis and documenting patient information. Taking blood pressure and examining peripheral circulation. Dermatomes, myotomes, muscle force and deep tendon reflexes. Examination routines. Examination of respiratory movements and the thorax. Observation and palpation of the most common areas of oedema. The unit includes 1 cr of clinical practice.

Cardiovascular diseases. Respiratory illnesses. Metabolical disorders, diabetes, disorders of the thyroid and adrenal glands. Laboratory examinations.

Students identify the symptoms of the main national diseases and know how to describe their causes, examination and care. They are able to interpret the results of the most common laboratory tests. Examination of patient’s general status. Respiratory, cardiovascular, lymph node, reproductive organ and intestine symptoms requiring osteopath’s reaction. Monitoring patients’ general condition during treatment.

Objective
Opiskelija osaa haastatella potilasta ja kirjata tiedot haastattelulomakkeeseen. Opiskelija osaa mitata potilaan verenpaineen ja suorittaa neurovaskulaarisen statuksen. Opiskelija osaa tutkia hengitystä ja rintakehän liikettä. Opiskelija tunnistaa yleisimmät turvotusalueet.
Sisätaudit: 1 op
Opiskelija tunnistaa keskeisten kansansairauksien oireet, ja osaa kuvailla niiden syyt, tutkimukset ja hoidot. Opiskelija osaa tulkita yleisimpiä laboratoriotuloksia.

Opiskelija osaa yhdistää aiemmin opitut lääketieteelliset aineet käytännön työtä palvelevaksi erotusdiagnostiseksi kokonaisuudeksi. Opiskelija kehittää potilaan yleistilan arviointitaitoja osana potilaan tutkimusta ja hoidon seurantaa. Opiskelija osaa tunnistaa vaaralliset ”red flag” –oireet ja ohjata potilaan jatkohoitoon.
Content
Anamneesin laatiminen ja potilastietojen kirjaaminen. Verenpaineen mittaus ja ääreisverenkierron tutkiminen. Dermatomit, myotomit, lihasvoimat ja syvät jänneheijasteet. Tutkimusrutiinit. Hengitysliikkeiden ja rintakehän tutkiminen. Yleisimpien turvotusalueiden observaatio ja palpaatio. Kursiin sisältyy 1 op harjoittelua.

Sydän ja verenkiertoelimistön sairaudet. Hengityselimistön sairaudet. Aineenvaihduntahäiriöt, diabetes, kilpirauhasen ja lisämunuaisen toimintahäiriöt. Laboratoriotutkimukset.

Hengitys-, verenkierto-, imusolmuke-, sukuelin- ja suolisto-oireet joihin osteopaatin pitää reagoida. Potilaan yleistilan seuraaminen hoitojakson aikana.
