Student
- can identify the most common mental health and substance abuse disorders and the principles of their treatment
- understands the impact of mental health, mental disorders and substance abuse on an individual
- understands the significance of crisis and developmental psychology and is able to deal with a person in crisis
- understands the importance of cooperation and interaction in mental health and substance abuse treatment
- understands the process of patient-centred treatment that considers also loved ones
- is able to use psychosocial methods and medication in mental health and substance abuse treatment
- recognises ethical situations in mental health and substance abuse treatment
- can explain the principles of a preventive and resource-oriented approach to mental health and substance abuse treatment
- is proficient in the methods of early intervention and bringing up substance abuse issues
- understands the key content and significance of the Mental Health Act
- understands the importance of reporting and documenting in mental health and substance abuse treatment work
- is proficient in the drug therapy process in mental health and substance abuse work.

Basic knowledge of mental health, the most common mental disorders and their treatment
Addictive substances and substance abuse problems
Methods of mental health and substance abuse treatment, key elements of professional interaction and key methods of early intervention and bringing up sensitive topics
The importance of a collaborative therapeutic relationship
Documentation and reporting in mental health and substance abuse care work
Ethics and key legislation in mental health and substance abuse care work
Crisis and developmental psychology in mental health work
Encountering and treating people in crisis and their families
Safeguarding and enhancing inclusion and autonomy
Specificities of drug therapy in mental health and substance abuse care

Qualifications

Basics of Clinical Nursing Competence. Basic knowledge of Pharmacotherapy.

- Can use professional ethical principles in their professional activities, taking into account safety aspects
- Is able to interact with consideration for diversity
- Recognises their own strengths and development needs

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student
- Applies a wide range of professional knowledge based on evidence
- Can act in a client/patient-oriented and responsible manner and assess the consequences of their actions
- Acts in accordance with professional ethical principles, taking into account safety aspects
- Is able to interact with respect for diversity
- Recognises their own strengths and development needs and is able to develop their professional activities
