Objective

The student is able to:
- understand the foundations of intensive care nursing and to apply his previous knowledge and skills to intensive care environment
- apply his previous knowledge and skills to operating room nursing
- apply evidence based knowledge in the decision making relevant to anesthesia and intensive care nursing
- plan, execute and evaluate the safe anesthesia and intensive care nursing as a part of a multiprofessional team
- guide the patient and understands the relevance of the guidance of the next of kin in the anesthesia and intensive care nursing
- understand the significance of anesthesia and intensive care nursing in the treatment path of the emergency patient
- understand the significance of ethics and health promotion as a part of anesthesia and intensive care nursing
- deepen and evaluate his professional development

Content

- the units, personnel and multiprofessional co-operation in the intensive care environment
- the basics of intensive care nursing and the observation and nursing care of the critically ill or injured
- cardiopulmonary resuscitation and MET activity in the intensive care unit
- the observation and nursing care of the patient during surgery and in the observation unit
- the principles of patient anesthesia
- the principles of special arrangements in anesthesia and functioning as a multiprofessional team
- the aseptic principles and patient safety in anesthesia and intensive care nursing
- the indications and contraindications of the relevant pharmaceutical substances used in anesthesia and intensive care nursing
- the fluid therapy during anesthesia and the fluid and nutrition therapy in intensive care
- the guidance of the patient and next of kin during anesthesia and in intensive care

Qualifications

Minimum of 80 credits of clinical nursing studies.
The nursing skills needed in the ER.
The student and tutor teacher go through other recommended studies in HOPS discussions.
