1. Understanding enzymes and enzyme kinetics
• Structure and classification of enzymes
• The role and function of enzymes in biological systems
• Enzyme kinetics and factors affecting enzyme activity
2. Bioenergetics
• Principles of bioenergetics
• Role of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in cellular energy storage and utilisation
3. Energy metabolism
• Metabolic pathways involved in the production and utilisation of energy in cells
• Catabolic and anabolic pathways such as glycolysis, citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation
4. Innate and acquired immunity
• Innate and acquired immune response and their differences
• Different mechanisms of the immune system, such as cellular uptake, antibody production and immunological memory
5. Biochemical research methods
• Commonly used research methods in biochemistry
