The first year and a half of the Electronics Degree Programme is largely carried out in cooperation with the Smart Automation degree. The first year of study provides the theoretical and technical basis for future professional studies. In the first and second year, students study vocational studies, mathematics, physics, English and other basic subjects and apply what they have learned in practical projects. International students start Finnish language studies right at the beginning of their studies and study a total of 20 credits of Finnish during their first two years of study.

During the third and fourth years, students expand their knowledge through advanced professional subjects. The curriculum includes three advanced modules (Radio Technology and Wireless Systems; Embedded Systems and Measurement Technology and Microelectronics Design), the topics of which are already covered in the vocational studies. Students will choose at least one advanced module, all of which they will complete. Students have the opportunity to extend their knowledge through entrepreneurship, project studies or elective studies.

Towards the end of their studies, students will delve deeper into the different aspects of electronics, learn about sustainable development issues and prepare for writing a thesis, for example through an academic English course. During the third and fourth years, students will also complete the Minno 3 project and the second national language if they have completed their basic education in Finland. In addition, students must complete two compulsory internships of 10 calendar weeks in the field and finally a thesis on a topic related to their degree programme. The internships can be completed either during the vacant periods in the third and fourth years or, alternatively, during the summers between academic years.

Development

Opetussuunnitelmaa tarkastellaan vuosittain osana sähkö- ja automaatiotekniikan tutkinto-ohjelman neuvottelukunnan toimintaa.
