Objective

On completion of the course, the student:
• is familiar with the most common building information modelling software used in the construction industry
• knows how to use building information modelling software and apply it to appropriate sites
• is able to produce building construction drawings from a building information model.

Content

The course includes an orientation for structural engineering design software and its use in the different phases of the project. During the course BIM based structural design and production of design drawings are practiced using various software packages. In addition, FEM calculation software for structural analysis is introduced.

The student knows the most common building information modelling software used in the construction industry and their applications.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is familiar with the most common building information modelling software used in the construction industry and is able to use it for appropriate purposes. The student can produce building construction drawings with assistance from a building information model.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows the most common building information modelling software used in the construction industry and is able to use and apply them to appropriate purposes. The student can independently produce building construction drawings from a building information model.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student knows the most common building information modelling software used in the construction industry and their applications.
