Objective

The student
• can deal with diversity in society and educational communities
• understands the importance of respectful encounters and peer groups in supporting children's development
• knows and is able to apply the key legislation, agreements, services and concepts in disability services, early childhood education and child support
• can identify the child's support needs and knows how to apply the levels of support in early childhood education and care settings
• can reflect on their own professional activities.

Content

• Disability legislation and the principles of the Early Childhood Education Act governing support

• Implementation of support in early childhood education and care

• Inclusive early childhood education and professional reflection

• Disability, chronic illness, neuropsychiatric special needs and other support needs in childhood and in the family

• Supporting child's multilingualism

• Augmentative and alternative communication

Qualifications

The student must have completed the courses Basics of Early Childhood Education and Learning in Early Childhood.
