Objective
After completing the course, the students can understand simple and clearly spoken
standard Finnish proficiently in familiar every-day situations. They can shortly discuss their own field, repetitive routines and also understand short written texts regarding familiar topics in their own field. The students’ communication skills will correspond to the skill level A1.2 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Content
Written and oral communication in simple, frequent, and repetitive daily situations in everyday life and work life: meeting and getting to know people; describing one's field and the work day; routine client situations (greetings, shopping, asking for how one is). Basic structures: verbs and verb conjugation in the present tense; the genitive case; the partitive case; consonant gradation; the possessives and asking questions. The main features of the spoken Finnish. Basic information regarding the Finnish work culture and the key tasks in one’s professional field and repetitive routines at work.
