Objective

After completing the course, the student knows the basic chemistry of photographs and basic conservation methods of photographs, negatives and films. The student understands the aging properties and degradation mechanisms of photographs and film materials. After completing the course, the student recognizes the damages, knows the terminology and knows how to do damage surveys. The student is able to assess the condition of photographs and film materials. The student knows the sources of information on photograph conservation.

The student knows the aging properties and degradation mechanisms of photographs and film materials and is able to identify them under supervision. The student knows the terminology related to damages. The student is able to evaluate the condition of photographs and film materials under supervision.
