Objective

The student is able to explain the factors related to the cause and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. The student can combine previously learned skills and select appropriate assessment and therapy methods for the purpose of supporting musculoskeletal function. Student will develop the knowledge of evidence-based research and therapy methods to promote musculoskeletal function. Student can describe the main issues in rheumatic diseases and fractures and understand the role of physiotherapy as part of the rehabilitation process.

Content

The most common musculoskeletal disorders, activity and participation limitations as well as pathological processes in their background
Interaction as part of the client-centred physiotherapy process
Selection and use of evidence-based physiotherapeutic assessment and therapy methods
Rheumatic diseases, fractures and treatment

Prerequisites

Student knows the basics of assessment and promotion of functioning in physiotherapy. Student understands the impact of the experience of pain in the physiotherapy process. Student knows the basics of body functions and structures. Student has accomplished minimum of 2 credits of clinical practice in physiotherapy.
