Objective

The student utilises and deepens their prior learning in neurological musculoskeletal diseases and the restrictions on functioning that they cause and uses this learning with long lower limb orthoses (knee ankle foot orthoses, KAFO). They apply their prior learning in user-oriented evaluations of the need for an orthosis and combine evidence-based knowledge with it.

The student can describe the purposes and benefits of long lower limb orthoses and justify the choice of orthosis. The student knows the basics of individual orthosis measurement and can manufacture a long lower limb orthosis under supervision. The student knows the working methods used in the manufacturing of orthoses. The student knows how to fit an orthosis on the client and to guide the client in how to use it. The student compares the relation between the client’s initial functional capacity and the end product using a professional perspective.
