Descriptions
The Master's Degree Programme in Health care diagnostics is a joint programme for students with biomedical laboratory scientist and radiographer backgrounds. These are health care diagnostic professions having many common features and even shared areas of job description e.g. in the field of nuclear medicine. Acting in the interface of patients, service systems and technology these professions are multifaceted. The program has many common intersections and studies with Health Business Management and Health Technology programmes and also some joint studies with these programmes.
Studies associated with quality of diagnostic services are realised in cooperation with six universities of applied sciences educating biomedical laboratory scientists and radiographers in Finland and bringing the students joy of familiarising themselves with students from various parts of Finland. The possibility to perform all the studies online gives students living even far from Helsinki and outside Finland the possibility to join the group. Studying in a heterogeneous international group fosters sharing innovative ideas and new ways of thinking. It is a natural way of networking nationally and internationally leading to growing opportunities in students’ career pathways in the future.
During the studies the student will acquire advanced level competences on research and development as well as project management activities. Upon completion of the advanced professional studies, the student is capable of planning, executing and assessing quality management of clinical laboratory/radiography services. He/she will also get good competences on designing and managing modern diagnostic services including artificial intelligence and robotics based services.
In her/his Master thesis 30 ECTS the student shows her/his independent competences on research and development activities on one’s own field of expertise. In addition to being expert in one’s own field, the student shows her/his competences on academic way of reporting and presenting one’s project. This project is often associated with the student’s work place, other companies, public or private organisations on the field, ongoing projects in Metropolia innovation hubs or other stakeholders.
Development
The degree programme collaborates with service providers and manufacturers and vendors in the diagnostic field e.g. in collaboration projects. The core curriculum is designed in collaboration with them, the students and teaching staff. Furthermore, studies associated with quality of diagnostic services have been planned and are realised in cooperation with six universities of applied sciences educating biomedical laboratory scientists and radiographers in Finland.
