Learning outcomes

The objective of the course is to observe service design as a concept and perceive its meaning when designing a new product or service. Competence in user-centred design is further deepened with respect to service development and the interaction between the service producer and the user.

Content

• Service design and modelling
• Contact points of the service experience, service track and service moment, and designing and modelling them
• Basic concepts and work methods of user centred design and their use in service design

The student
• knows the stages of the service development process and the role of the industrial designer in service development
• is able to solve service development problems well using design methods
• is able to produce presentation material.

The student
• knows the stages of the service development process and the role of the industrial designer in service development
• is able to solve service development problems well using design methods
• is able to justify their solutions well and has a good command of service conceptualisation
• is able to produce high quality presentation material
• is able to document and present their development work well.
