Objective

This course offers a comprehensive exploration of game backend systems, focusing on the essential components that power LiveOps games. Students will delve into server architectures, networking principles, database management, and live operations (LiveOps), gaining insights into how these elements interact to create seamless gaming experiences. Through lectures and discussions, participants will develop a solid understanding of the backend processes that support modern game development.

o Comprehend Game Backend Fundamentals: Understand the role and significance of backend systems in game development, including how they support game functionality and player experiences.
o Analyze Server Architectures: Differentiate between various server architectures (e.g., client-server, peer-to-peer) and their applicability to different game types.
o Understand Networking Principles: Grasp the basics of networking protocols and how data is transmitted and managed in online gaming environments.
o Explore Data Management Techniques: Learn about data storage solutions, including databases, and how they are used to manage game state, player information, and other critical data.
o Examine Live Operations (LiveOps): Gain insights into LiveOps strategies for maintaining and updating games post-launch, including content delivery and player engagement tactics.
