Objective

On completion of this course the student:
- learns elementary engineering mathematical skills
- understands the importance of mathematics in engineering

- Review of algebraic techniques
- Most common engineering functions
- Vector algebra

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student:
- understands basic mathematical concepts related to algebra, functions and vectors
- is able to solve standard mathematical problems arising in the engineering field

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition to satisfactory criteria the student:
- can apply basic mathematical tools to solve engineering problems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to good criteria the student:
- is capable to fluently apply basic mathematical principles in the engineering field.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student:
- understands basic mathematical concepts related to algebra, functions and vectors
- is able to solve standard mathematical problems arising in the engineering field
