Objective

The students are able to describe the methods and tools of computer aided design and can explain the differences between the CAD design and the data model. The students are able to prepare a simple building data model that can be utilized to create drawings, structure design, bills of quantities, project management etc. for further use. The students can prepare schedules.

Content

The student learn about the use of building industry planning and scheduling software and their features.

The learning material will be provided in Moodle at the beginning of the course.

Exam schedules

The submission dates for the practical assignments will be published in Moodle at the beginning of the course. There is no separate exam.

Student workload

Approximately 50 hours of face-to-face lectures and 85 hours of independent work. (1 ECTS credit = 27 hours of student work)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to:
- describe the methods and tools of computer aided design and can explain the differences between the CAD design and the data model.
- prepare a simple building data model
- prepare simple schedules.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to:
- use the methods and tools of computer aided design
- prepare a building data model that can be utilized to create drawings, structure design, bills of quantities, project management etc. for further use
- prepare schedules.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to:
- use learned well

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The students are able to:
- describe the methods and tools of computer aided design and can explain the differences between the CAD design and the data model.
- prepare a simple building data model
- prepare simple schedules.

Assessment methods and criteria

There are five learning assignments, of which four must be successfully submitted. The practical assignments are graded on a scale from 0 to 5, and the final grade is based on their average. Failure to submit an assignment will lower the average by one grade point.
