Objective
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to
• apply the knowledge learned in theory into practice
• work independently in tasks specific to his/her professional field
• use professional tools in his/her work
• operate in the professional field and use relevant methods.
Content
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with relevant work tasks in their field and apply their knowledge and skills as professionals in Finland. Students will learn to manage typical situations at work, get acquainted with the Finnish work environment, build networks and deepen their competence.
This course is aimed for one that has immigration background and speaks Finnish in B1-level. Teaching in slow, plain Finnish (called selkosuomi). Lectures are at the day-time and requires active participation. Course requires a lot of time used outside the classroom. Studying requires accounting skills, previous education or work experience.

Students have achieved the course objectives fairly. Students will be able to identify, define and use the concepts and models specific to the field of work. The student understands the criteria and principles of professional development.

Students have achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. Students are able to define the course concepts and models and are able to justify the analysis. The student is able to apply their knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student understands the importance of expertise in the field of work and is able to analyse his/her own expertise.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Students have achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. Students master commendably the course subject area’s concepts and models. Students are able to make justified and fluent analysis and to present concrete development measures. The students are well prepared to apply their knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. Students are able to analyse field-specific expertise and the evolvement of their own expertise.
