Objective

Student knows the structure of legislation, concepts related to it and different sources of information. The student knows the basics of contract law and land lease. The student is able to search for and use information from sources of law.

Content

The students become familiar with the Finnish legal system and with the impact of EU law on the Finnish legal system. The course emphasizes the use of various information sources in investigating practical interpretations of laws and decrees. The students become familiar with legislation concerning land use permits, neighbourly relations, registration of rights related to land, contract law and land rent, as well as the basics of real estate taxation.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the sources of law and finds the necessary law or other norm from information systems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students find the necessary norms and know how to use them in their assignments.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is familiar with the Finnish legal system and the EU legal system. The student is able to use precedents and legislative documents in legal issues. The student is able to justify his/her legal aspects.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student knows the sources of law and finds the necessary law or other norm from information systems.
