Objective

The student
• understands the ethical challenges of digital design
• understands the importance of values in the work of a designer and can make and justify their choices
• is familiar with the current topics of ethical discussion related to digital design
• is familiar with general ethical principles such as the principle of sustainable development.

Content

• Ethical challenges of digital design
• Ethical design and designer responsibility
• Own values as part of the digital designer's work
• Ethical debate in the field
• General ethical principles, e.g. sustainable development

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
• can name the ethical challenges in the field
• is able to outline the guidelines for ethical design and the responsibility of the designer for their work
• can evaluate their own values in relation to the work of a digital designer
• is familiar with the current ethical debate in the field and general ethical principles.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
• can analyse ethical challenges in the field
• understands the principles of ethical design and can independently consider the responsibility of the designer from their perspective
• is aware of their own values and is able to reflect upon them in relation to the work of a digital designer
• is able to evaluate the current ethical debate in the field and general ethical principles.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• can reflect on the ethical challenges of the field in many ways
• can apply and develop the principles of ethical design and can think critically about issues of designer responsibility as part of their work
• is able to critically examine their own values and to understand the complicated relationship between the values and the work of a digital designer
• can contribute to the current ethical debate in the field and is able to make a reasoned assessment of general ethical principles of the field.
