Teaching methods
The implementation will delve into the themes of sustainable development in the performance, theatre and event industries. In the implementation workshops, students will develop their own work environment and will jointly consider concrete actions to develop the operating environment. In their own study diary or project, they will independently study and/or develop the technical-artistic operating environment from the perspective of ecological and social sustainability.
At the beginning of the implementation, the principles of continuous development of the performance technical operating environment will be briefly reviewed. The other study sessions of the implementation are themed around concrete topics of ecological and social sustainability and include several guest expert lecturers.
At the bachelor's level, students have the opportunity to work on independent projects or alternatively reflect on the project work of YAMK students and their own operating environment.
The student is responsible for the expert role in the content of the development work using written sources or reflects the materials of the course in relation to their own organization or operating environment. Alternative project work begins at the beginning of the implementation and ends with a presentation. Project work includes a few external meetings with a pre-informed schedule, which the small groups agree on independently.
The course is a multi-modal implementation, where the meetings are remote meetings on Zoom, except for the first study session and the last study session, when the completed work is presented. The online learning platform is Google Classroom. Attendance requirement is 50%. Absences can be compensated with a mandatory overdue assignment.

Recordings of teaching situations are available for viewing during the course on the learning platform used by the course. Unless otherwise agreed with the group, recordings of teaching situations will be deleted no later than 6 months after the end of the course.

13.5.2025 Presentation
All assignments and achievements are valid one year from the start date. Also, all personal compensatory assignments are valid one year from the start date. Discuss alternative methods with your tutor if needed.
Completion alternatives
In an expert role, reflect on sustainable development project work and make learning journal or implement an independent development project.
Student workload
The course has five credits. Calculating that completing one credit requires 27 hours of work. The total number of hours for the course is 135 hours according to this calculation. The course has 21 hours of lectures and facilitated workshop work, meaning that 114 hours of the workload is outside of lectures. This number of hours is divided into preparing for lectures (materials or assignments read in advance), doing exercises (individual / group work) and keeping a personal study diary. Based on these hours, you will be able to assess what kind of effort is expected of you in the course work and how the course workload compares to other courses.
The workload is indicative and provides an indication of the average workload for achieving the course learning objectives and for an approved grade. Depending on the student's previous knowledge and experience, the workload may be less or more. The knowledge acquired in the course is assessed through assignments and other achievements, not by the number of hours completed.
