Objective

- The student recognizes the importance of the Ice Age in the characteristics of the soil and bedrock of Finland
- The student masters the main classification and technical characteristics of painters
- The student can interpret Finnish basic research results
- The student performs simple geotechnical calculations

Content

Naming soil types, drawing a granularity curve, volume and weight calculations, soil surveys, subsidence types, sensor sizing, earth pressure calculations

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows how to draw a graininess curve and name soil types based on graininess, can master simple soil mechanics calculations.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows how to interpret drilling diagrams and, based on them, determine the strength variables for the soil, and master the usual soil mechanics calculations.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows how to independently apply what she/he has learned to geotechnical solutions in working life, and can master demanding calculations.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student knows how to draw a graininess curve and name soil types based on graininess, can master simple soil mechanics calculations.
