Internship in the Voluntary and Civic Environments (5 cr)

Objective

The students will be familiar with volunteer and civic activities in a versatile way. The students will plan and complete an internship according to their own professional interests. They will strengthen their professional competency. With their activities, the students will promote inclusion, agency, human rights, equality and sustainable development.

Content

Students will be familiar with the importance, principles, and practices of volunteer work. The internship will be
completed during the studies according to the plan presented by the students. The internship can be linked to e.g. civic activities or volunteering and support person activities.

Location and time

Orientation 27.2. ay 14.15-16.00. The invitation to the orientation will be sent to the students through e-mail after the acceptance to the course. Orientation is in Finnish but is supported by English.

Spesified material in the Moodle -workspace. The key will be send before orientation.

- Orientation to the study
- Written assignment
- Searching for the internship organisation + carrying out the intership
- Self assessment

Orientation to the study course is 27.2. klo 14.15-16.00. The invitation to the orientation will be sent to the students through e-mail after the acceptance to the course. Orientation is in Finnish but is supported by English.

The course is compulsory to social service students and open as an elective study for every degree program student in Metropolia. Participation is possible in English.

The instructions and assignments are in Moodle. You can sign in there after you have been accepted in the course. The key to Moodle will be sentby OMA before orientation. The Moodle tasks will be updated and published after orientation.
