Objective
The course will provide students with an understanding and knowledge to the main content of life cycle assessment including definition of a product system, data collection, inventory analysis and impact assessment. After completion of this course students can perform LCA independently and they understand the importance of the source of errors to the results of LCA.
Content
-Definition of coals and the product system of life cycle assessment
-Performance of inventory analysis and impact assessment
-The critical analysis of LCA and conclusion making
-Estimation of carbon footprint
-Climate SWOT analysis
Location and time
The lectures are primarily held on Fridays from 11:00 to 14:00, with one exception.
The schedule presented on the course platform indicates the dates when lectures will not be held. However, on some of these occasions, students are expected to complete independent work.
Additional information:
-Lectures will also be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
-The mid-term exams will take place on March 21, 2025, and May 9, 2025, from 11:00 to 14:00 in classroom C345.
-The retake exam is scheduled for May 16, 2025, in classroom C345 from 9:00 to 12:00.

Teaching methods
The course consists of lectures, two assignments, classroom exercises, and two mid-term exams.
The assignments and classroom exercises provide a deeper exploration of the topics covered during the lectures
Exam schedules

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student is able to define or describe the subject matter related to the concepts and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the associated basic quantitative comparisons and calculations.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student is able to apply, calculate, change and choose the concepts related to the matter and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the basic quantitative calculations as well as to complete and produce the necessary information for the calculations.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The students is able to categorize, collect, combine and generalize the concepts related to the matter and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the basic quantitative calculations as well as derive and rearrange given basic information.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The student is able to define or describe the subject matter related to the concepts and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the associated basic quantitative comparisons and calculations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Mid-term exams: Total 50 points
-Two mid-term exams, both of which must be passed.
-Minimum score: 10 points per exam. Maximum score: 25 points per exam.
Assignments: Total 27 points
-Assignment 1: 12 points (minimum 1 point required to pass).
-Assignment 2: 15 points (minimum 1 point required to pass).
Classroom exercise portfolio (group work): Total 18 points
3 points per task, with a minimum requirement of 9 points.
Lecture notes: Total 10 points (partially optional)
This component is not mandatory, but achieving the highest grade (5) in the course requires successful completion of this section
Qualifications
The student masters the basics of statistical tests and their applications.
