Objective

The student is able to use statistical methods to analyse and assess quantitative quality management data and present the results graphically. The student knows what kinds of statistical methods can be applied in quality control, process management and process development.

Content

• The basics of statistical analytics: distribution processing, principles of probability, basic principles of correlation and regression anlyses
• Graphical presentation of statistical data
• Process competency and how to measure it
• Statistical process control

Location and time

The course is a non-stop online course. You can do it independently and at your own pace in Moodle learning environment. However, enough time must be allocated for independent study (for a 5-credit course, the student's calculatory workload is 135 hours).

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient performance: has completed basic requirements to pass the course and has made an attempt to apply and articulate concepts and information both verbally and in writing but has not made enough effort overall. The student has demonstrated little effort, interest and motivation for individual or team activities / assignments and the output is rather weak.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good overall performance: can apply and articulate concepts and information well both verbally and in writing, certain areas of individual or team output require further attention; shows appropriate level of interest and motivation in individual and team activities. Good presentation delivery and analysis.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent performance in all elements of the course: shows interest and motivation in individual and team activities and assignments, fully applies and clearly articulates concepts and information both verbally and in writing. The student is able to support his/her argument with references to the recommended reading and lecture content. Excellent presentation delivery and analysis.

Assessment methods and criteria

To pass the course, you need in every set at least 50 % of the set's maximum points. So, you must pass each problem set individually.

When you have passed all sets, the grade is based on the total points of the course (the maximum points of all sets added together). The lower limits for grades are as follows:

50 % of total points: 1
60 % of total points: 2
70 % of total points: 3
80 % of total points: 4
90 % of total points: 5
