Acute Care in The emergency department, Clinical Practice (10 cr)

Objective

The student is able to:
- apply the relevant knowledge and skills required by the emergency room clinical practice environment
- apply the triage principles in the emergency room clinical practice
- assess the patient as well as plan and execute the treatment needs of the patient, under the guidance of the clinical practice mentor
- develop his reporting and charting skills needed in the emergency room
- evaluate his own actions as a part of the professional group in the emergency room
- evaluate his knowledge and skills and develop these according to feedback

Content

- 7,5 cr. clinical practice
- 2,5 credits of lab sessions and/or simulation studies

Teaching methods

Opintojakso sisältää harjoittelun työelämässä sekä harjoittelun jälkeisen työpajaviikon. Työpajaviikolla on simulaatioita ja pakohuonepeli, jotka ovat opintojakson vaadittuja suorituksia harjoittelun lisäksi.

Qualifications

Minimum of 60 credits of clinical nursing studies.
The nursing skills needed in the ER and high acuity units.
The nursing skills needed in the ER.
The student and tutor teacher go through other recommended studies in HOPS discussions
