Advanced Practice 1 (10 cr)

Objective

The student is able to:
- apply the relevant knowledge and skills required by the clinical practice environment
- perform nursing care in a patient-centered fashion when promoting the health of the patients and his next of kin
- apply the ethical principles and guidances of nursing
- work as a part of professional group and community while applying patient safety principles
- work as a part of a multiprofessional group and takes part in the decision making process relevant to the patient treatment
- guide and support the patient and his next of kin
- evaluate and develop his professional knowledge and skills

Content

- 7,5 credits of clinical practice in intensive care, operating room, emergency room or ALS level prehospital unit
- 2,5 credits of lab sessions and/or simulation studies

Materials

Professional literature advised in theoretical studies and by the practise unit.

Teaching methods

Laborations and simulation (2.5 ECTS) are being organized at the school in connection with theoretical studies prior to clinical practise. Clinical practice place is in the acute care environment chosen by the student.

No optional methods. AHOT applications as advised in Metropolia study regulations before the practise.

Student workload

Clinical practice is 7.5 ECTS credits and 5 weeks or 200 hours. During the training, the working methods, shifts and general principles of the work community are being obeyed.

Content scheduling

Clinical practice Spring 2025 or as individually planned. The practice must be completed before the graduation date.

Syventävää -harjoittelua ennen:
Perusopinnot suoritettu harjoitteluineen, hoitotason ja päivystyshoitotyön teoriat suoritettu. Tehohoito- ja perioperatiivinen hoitotyön opintojakso tulee olla suoritettu ennen harjoittelua teho- tai valvontaosastolla tai perioperatiivisessa toimintaympäristössä. Opintojakson lääkelaskutentti tulee olla hyväksytty ennen harjoittelua.
Opiskelijan tulee tutustua oppilaitoksen harjoitteluohjeisiin.
Opiskelija vastaa siitä, että hän on tietoinen harjoittelun vaatimuksista ja ohjeista.
Opiskelijan tulee esitellä päivitetty jobiili-CV:nsä sekä tavoitteensa työelämäohjaajalleen ensimmäisten harjoittelupäivien aikana.
Harjoittelunajankohdat eli päivät ja päivien kesto sovitaan harjoittelun työelämäohjaajan kanssa kirjallisesti käyttäen oppilaitoksen kaavaketta. Opiskelijan tulee noudattaa sovittuja ajankohtia. Harjoittelun tuntimäärä on 200.
Viimeistään harjoittelun ensimmäisen viikon päätyttyä opiskelija kirjaa työelämäohjaajan hyväksymät tavoitteensa sekä työvuoronsa Workseediin.
Opiskelija saa tavoitteista palautteen ja on velvollinen sitoutumaan harjoittelunsa tavoitteisiin.
Loppu-/väliarviointi tehdään opiskelijan, työelämäohjaajan ja ohjaavan opettajan kontaktilla etäyhteydellä.
Harjoittelun päätyttyä opiskelija täyttää harjoittelun lomakkeet Workseediin viimeistään viikko harjoittelun päätyttyä.

Qualifications

Minimum of 80 credits of clinical nursing studies.
The nursing skills needed in the ER.
The skills needed in intensive care and anesthesia nursing.
The previous studies related to the clinical practice environment.
The student and tutor teacher go through other recommended studies in HOPS discussions.
