Objective
On completion of the course, the student will be familiar with the planning and execution of road renovation.
The student knows the function of the structural layers and understands the requirements of materials. The student is familiar with the categorisation of damage types related both to surface structures and underlying structures.
The student knows the basics of making a damage inventory and related measurements.
The student can choose different renovation methods for road and bridge structures according to the circumstances.
The student is familiar with the principles and equipment used in road maintenance.

3. Combining information from designs and damage surveying
4. Estimating damage causes and BIM
5. Reconstruction methods
6. Renovation planning and implementation
7. Site safety and temporary traffic arrangements.

Lecture material, which is stored in a OMA.
Will be given with first lectures.
Teaching methods
Interactive lecture, exercises and group work.
Exam
Excursion: Students visit a road repair and/or maintenance site.
As an exercise, students conduct a terrain inventory of a section of road.
Exam schedules
Will be given with first lectures. Shown in course schedule.
Exams will be held at the end of the course, and the more accurate the date indicated on OMA.

Student workload
Obtaining a mark of the course requires 80% participation in classroom instruction and guidance, etc.
Student´s workload is 27 h / ects, which includes contact teaching and independent work of the student.
Studies and the working load of the rehearsals are sized as per the all-time studies.
Obtaining a mark of the course requires that all course assignments are done satisfactorily.
All course assignments must be submitted before the end of the course. If they are late, they will receive a grade reduction.
Further information
This course is implemented at school as contact teaching and small group work, which is presented in class. Small group work is also assessed.
The student's assessment is based on his/her performance during the course. In addition to exams, these include class activity, attendance and small group work with presentations. Attendance should be at least 80%.
The average grade for the exam and small group work is not directly the course grade, but the above-mentioned factors that lower the grade are taken into account.

- can supervise a typical road renovation project
- understands the roles of the authorities in road renovation projects
- can take care of getting the necessary building permits.

- can design alternative solutions and evaluate their functionality
- can compare the costs of alternative solutions
- can schedule planning and construction in an economically optimal timeframe
- can consider matters from different points of view.

The student understands and knows well the importance of road repair and maintenance in the built environment.

The student understands and knows very well the importance of road repair and maintenance in the built environment.
Evaluation of the content and presentation of small group work, which examines how well the student has become familiar with the given topic area in their group.
Evaluation of the exercise, which examines how well the student has internalized the content of the material covered in the lectures and understands the areas of road repair and maintenance. The main points to be considered are the consideration of sustainable development principles in the areas of repair and maintenance of traffic routes, familiarity with the different areas of repair and maintenance of traffic routes, the areas and concepts of repair and maintenance of traffic routes, and the processes and different actors of repair and maintenance projects.
Take into account the fundamentals of repair and maintenance of traffic routes, traffic routes, municipal technical systems, environmental protection, constructability and foundation construction systems, as well as their methods and techniques.
