Mathematics for Building Services Systems 2 (5 ECTS)

Objective

The student can explain concepts of definite integral and antiderivative. They can evaluate definite integrals using graph, numerical methods and the fundamental theorem of calculus. The student can apply integrals in geometric and physical problems. They can identify a differential equation and solve simple differential equations. They are able to model mathematical and physical phenomena with differential equations.The student is familiar with basic financial calculations.

Content

Concepts of definite integral and antiderivative. Evaluating definite integrals using graph, numerical methods and the fundamental theorem of calculus. Exploitation of integration: geometrical and engineering applications. Introduction to differential equations, modelling phenomena with differential equations. Solving differential equations. Interest and index calculations. If statement and logical operators.

Luennot tiistaisin 8.30 - 10.00 ja laskupajat keskiviikkoisin 12.00 - 13.30.

Kurssilla tarvitaan Excel-taulukkolaskentaohjelmaa.

Tiistain luennot tallennetaan monimuotototeutusta (TX00FF45-3004) varten. Tallenne julkaistaan näiden toteutusten yhteisessä Moodle-työtilassa: Tallenne on siten myös päiväryhmän käytettävissä. Tallennetta ei voi ladata omalle koneelle ja sen kuunteleminen vaatii Metropolian tunnukset.

Exam schedules

Koe 1 (Exam-koe) viikkojen 40 - 43 aikana.
Koe 2 viikolla 47 (luokassa, paperikoe).

Student workload

Lähitunteja 4 h / viikko. Kurssin suorittaminen vaatii opiskelijalta itsenäistä ja itseohjautuvaa työotetta ja ajankäytön suunnittelua. Suunniteltu kokonaisajankäyttö 6 - 10 h / viikko.
