Objective

Upon completion of the course, student will be able to apply the basic principles of accounting and prepare income statement and balance sheet according to Finnish Accounting Standards. Student will be able to obtain information of the corporate legislation and -taxation in Finland and can record the wages.

This course is aimed for one that has immigration background and speaks Finnish in B1-level. Teaching in slow, plain Finnish (called selkosuomi). Lectures are at the day-time and requires active participation. Course requires a lot of time used outside the classroom. Studying requires accounting skills, previous education or work experience.

On-site at the Myyrmäki campus.

E-books, articles, and resources will be published at the beginning of the course on the course homepage. Please follow OMA throughout the course: documents, slides, and assignments will be added there.

Student workload

Weekly assignments require independent time management, familiarization with the subject, and preparation for lectures. Consistent effort is needed, as the workload does not accumulate toward the end of the course.

Content scheduling

Will start with the basics and progress to more advanced topics: from basic bookkeeping to more complex entries, corporate law and taxation, as well as payroll accounting. The course covers bookkeeping, payroll management, corporate law and taxation, and financial statement analysis as a comprehensive package.
