Location and time

The course commences in April the 8th 2025 with one 2 hour online where orientation and instructions for the course pre-assignments are given. Time: 17.00-19. 00 in zoom. session (zoom-link provided after acceptance)
Intensive week will be held in Metropolia, Myllypuro 12.5-16..2025

Teaching methods

The course is an elective course, designed for nursing, midwifery of public health nursing students who are interested in paediatric nursing and wish to acquire additional competencies for working in the field of paediatric nursing.
The course 5 (ECTS) combines an online meeting, pre-assignment and a week in Helsinki.

The course does not have exam. The course is completed by participating actively on the 8th of April online session and intensive week (100% attendance) and completing the course assignments.

Course is worth of 5 credits , which is 135 hours of student´s work, this will include the following:
-Online meeting 8.4 -2 hrs
-Intensive week: 12-16.5 -100% attendance required
-Evening programme (two nignt during the week from 17-19)
-Pre-assignments and group work

Further information

Course content & aims:
Studies include simulations, theoretical & practical sessions and group work. You will get insight into assessment of vital signs, detecting deterioration and care of different health issues of children, alongside with communication skills needed in working with with children of different ages and their families in different care settings.

Deadline for application/registration is by 30.1.2025. Students are selected based on the study succes and motivation. Enrolled students are contacted in February for selection. Succesfull applicants will be informed by 28.2.2025
Please enroll by the deadline (SX00FU52-3002).
Selected students will receive a Nordplus grant for travel costs during the intensive week. Also, lunches, coffees and farewell party are covered by the network.
